The following text is the artist bio for Jennifer Serchia, written in third person by Jennifer Serchia. Jennifer was a truckstop child who grew up in western New York with her parents, twin sister Christine, little sister Frances, cat Herman & many hamsters. Since earning her B.F.A. at Alfred University in 2005, Jennifer has traveled to Avezzano, Italy to meet long-lost relatives who claim she has mispronounced her surname for her entire life. Formerly based in Brooklyn, Jennifer has recently moved to Los Angeles (closer to Pee Wee Herman and Tom Waits). She spends many nights cooking, watching Law & Order (over & over), researching everything, daydreaming, cruising down the sidewalks of Hollywood, & gaining valuable life experience.
Her art focuses on universal aspects of phenomena to research how behavioral patterns are used to reference, communicate, relate & understand. She also intends to create work that exists as homages to preserve her interests, which sometimes include: warmth, memories, spontaneity, personification and the 1970’s . It’s all in progress.
